The largest lake contained completely within the borders of Michigan is Houghton lake in Roscommon County, with 20,044 acres (over 31 square miles) in area. The deepest is Torch lake in Antrim and Kalkaska counties, which while it is only 18,770 acres in area, has depths up to 285 feet.
