The Mares(the mom) are able to get up right after birth, if no complications. The foals range anywhere from 45 minutes to 120 minutes sometimes longer..depends if he/she came on time or was a preemie baby.

It SHOULD take puppies (depending on the breed) usually about 2 to 3 weeks to begin walking!

a "baby horse" or foal can stand almost as soon as it is born. it may have trouble standing at first, but with a helpful nuzzle from its mare, it can manage on its own.

The newborn foal should be attempting to try and get up to walk winthin 20 to 30 minutes after being born!!
