Depends on what's fractured and where. Fractured little toes can heal in a month or so. Stress-bearing areas like knees and ankles can take over a year. The factors invovled are:

  • Blood supply to the area
  • Re-injury (by trauma or repeated stress)
  • Surface area that must heal.
  • Extent to which the damaged area can be reinforced or immobilized while healing.

I would imagine that a green-stick fracture would take longer to heal than a clean break as there is a lot more bone to heal.

I'm 14 and i currently have a spiral fracture on my right tibia. I have to have a heavy cast (knee height) for 2 weeks, then I should be getting a lighter one for another 4 weeks. The doctors have said that the bone should be knitted back together by 6-8 weeks, but it will take 3-6 months for it to be back to full strength. It is really frustrating, as I'm a very sporty person and the injury has stopped me doing everything i would normally like to do.

It can take well over 1 month for a spiral fracture to heal in the human hand. This is if there is no surgery needed but if surgery is needed, it can take several months to completely heal.

This will depend on the severity and the rehabilitation management of the person. There is no telling of the exact number of months or weeks it could heal.
