A volcanic mountain could form in a relatively short geologic time span. Mountains formed by plate collision could take millions and millions of years. The volcano of Mauna Loa on the big island of Hawaii may have first seen sunlight a mere 400,000 years ago. The Himalayan Mountains, a result of plate collision, by contrast, are still growing, 50 million years after they started.

Volcanoes are created over approximately 10,000-500,000 years by thousands of eruptions -- each lava flow covering the one before it. In the case of oceanic island volcanoes, lava erupts first from fissures, or cracks, on the deep ocean floor. The flows continue to build up and finally an island emerges from the sea. It was only when scientists began sampling the deep ocean floor in the 1950s and 1960s that they realized that most of the ocean floor is composed of lava flows. In fact, more lava has erupted on the sea floor than anywhere on Earth, mostly from mid-ocean ridges -- the longest chain of active volcanoes on our planet.

I know science teaches thousands even millions of years but all we have to do is look at history. There are several volcanoes that have formed in our lifetime but i will only need to talk about one, Mt. Paricutin. This is a volcano that had formed right in the middle of farmers corn field. It started on flat ground in 1943 and it finally stopped in 1952. The whole process from birth to death was nine years, it grew to over 10,000 feet tall and is considered in the top ten biggest volcanoes on the planet! So much for the thousands of years theory...who needs theories when we can just look at tangible facts.
