For livebearing fish, after fertilisation has taken place, it can vary but from around 1 month to several months is the norm. Depending upon species.

Once a fish gets pregnant it usually takes 3-7 days to lay eggs. Approximately 2-3 weeks later sometimes 1 week later the eggs hatch.

Unlike most tropical fish, guppy young don't hatch - they are born alive! Hence the guppy is classified as a livebearer.
