If you don't wear your retainer, your teeth won't start to shift until about a week from when you stopped wearing it.

How long can you keep you retainer out without your teeth moving after only having it for 5 weeks?

You should never take your retainer out for more than a day! Wearing your retainer everyday(whether it be daytime or night) keeps your teeth in place. Even if you go a few days without wearing one and you put it in, your teeth will feel very tight because they have shifted already. Everyday you don't have it on, your teeth move more and more. Word of advise: WEAR YOUR RETAINER!

Can your old retainers straighten your teeth again?

It depends on how old they are and how long it has been since you last had any followup or any other adjustments. Your teeth are moving all the time, they shift and move, twisting, etc. in the mouth as you age and change. So, an old retainer may try to move, or apply pressure to your teeth, the chances of it succesfully straightening you teeth are not very good. But if you check with you Dentist, you may be able to use that old retainer for some follow up work, once Your Dr.'s had a chance to update your adjustments.I am also wondering about the intent of the questioner. How do you know that your teeth are not straight? Is this the first time you noticed that your teeth are not straight? How long has it been since you wore your retainers last?

How long does it take for retainers to fix gaps in between teeth?

If you where your retainer all day every day for two weeks your teeth will start to shift back to that pretty smile you had when you took of your braces. Though wearing the retainer every night after theres a gap takes a lot longer. A few months even. I suggest if you do not want to wear your retainer during the day. That your wear it every night and every evening that your just around the house or every morning that your just around the house. Unless your in a hurry in the morning to leave to go somewhere keep it in after you wake up. THE LONGER YOU WHERE THE RETAINER IN YOUR MOUTH THE QUICKER IT WILL TAKE TO FIX THE GAP!

How long do you have to where a retainer for after having braces removed and having jaw surgery?

How long can you break your teeth and still be able to fix it?

How do you remove a temporary filling?

There are some reasons why you may need to remove your permanent retainer. Most importantly, it can sustain damage after cutting into hard food. By choosing regular checkups, you can detect any damage. If the calculus forms against the surface of your teeth, you may need to remove your retainer as it can damage your teeth and gums as it is difficult. If you have been wearing one for a long time, you may want to remove it or give advice.

How long will it take to wear braces?

It will probably take 2 years if it's in the correct position, and it's aligned pretty much perfect! But you're not done yet aster you had just taken of your braces you will have to wear a positioner or a retainer. A positioner will help you keep your new aligned teeth into place. So you won't have to suffer crooked teeth again! A retainer is very common. You will get a retainer after you get your braces. (OR) you can where it after the positioner, but you don't have to unless needed! The retainer will securely holds the teeth into it's new place. You have to wear during the night. the orthodontist will tell you when to put on you appliance and when to take off. finally at the end after you have worn your braces, postioner, or retainer it will probably take 3 years to have a perfect beautiful smile! CHEESE!

Can braces really align previously unaligned teeth?

Yes, but there are drawbacks. Your roots will get a little shorter and you must wear a retainer for a while as they will want to move back for a long time after.

Do spiders have long noses?

spiders dont have noses at all they just eat you alive with their long tonges filled with teeth

What is the process of braces?

The full process is quite a long duration. Your first appointment is your exam, where they will tell you if they think you need braceS. then your second one is getting x-rays and a mould of your teeth ( this bit can make you gag) also they take a couple of photos. Then the next appointment will be getting the braces on. First they put rings around your back molars and then they clean your teeth. Then they put glue on your teeth and the brackets are bonded on. They put a blue light on them and wait for it to dry. Then you pick your colours and they put the wire in and secure it with your chosen colour bands. This is all painless!! You get them off after 1-3 years on average, then you have a retainer to make sure they dont shift back into their crooked position

What are retainers like?

When you have braces for a certain amount of time you are required to wear a clear or wire retainer. They keep your teeth from moving. So say you got your braces off and you refuse to wear a retainer or you just don't want to, your teeth will move and then you have to get braces again. Your retainer doesn't have to be in very long.
