Filet Mignon is a bacon wrapped steak cut from the beef tenderloin. Cook like you would any other steak, depending on your personal taste. Rare, medium, or well however you like your steak cooked. A charboiler or bbq is a great way to add flavour to any steak.
Actually, filet mignon does not have to be wrapped in bacon. We have a favorite way to cook it in our house. See related links for the recipe and instructions.
First, set them out for a half-hour or so to let them get to room temperature. They'll turn out much better than if you throw them on a grill straight from the fridge.
If you need to season your steak at all, do so sparingly. Set your grill to high, and set the steak on the grill for 2-1/2 minutes for medium rare, 3 minutes for medium, and 4 minutes for medium well. Do NOT close the grill. We're not baking here.
Then turn the steak 90 degrees, and cook for the same amount of time. We're making criss-cross grill marks here.
Flip the steak (use tongs, never puncture the meat) and repeat the same times, turn 90 degrees and repeat again.
Remove the steak (again, with tongs) and let it sit 2-3 minutes to let the juices redistribute. Enjoy!
Nice and easy way: broil it, about 3- 5, 6, 7 minutes per side . depending on how you like your steak. Simply- rare takes the least time- well done the longest. Also depends on how thick your fillets are . thicker ones will take longer. Experiment.
petit filet mignon
The filet mignon was delicious. I enjoyed the filet mignon. My friend didn't like the filet mignon as he found it undercooked and underseasoned. Filet mignon is French for 'cute fillet' or 'dainty fillet.'
I would like to have my filet mignon cooked medium well, please. Filet mignon is not on the breakfast menu...
No, filet mignon does not come from a calf. Filet mignon comes from the smaller portion of the tenderloin in a steer or heifer.
Filet mignon is French for "cute fillet" or "dainty fillet" of steak. Strictly speaking, it is only a filet mignon if cut from the very top end of the tenderloin.
There are approximately 52 calories per ounce in a Filet Mignon. On a 4oz filet mignon there are approximately 208 calories. 52 calories per oz X 4oz = 208 calories Enjoy your Filet Mignon!
