The best way to thaw a frozen cake is just let it sit out at room temperature for an hour or so depending on the size. It can also be put in the refrigerator where it takes about 24 hours to thaw. If you are in a rush and the cake is not iced, you can always warm up your oven for a bit and place the cake inside while the oven is off, however if your cake is iced, the heat will melt the icing.
Leave out at room temperature. It will thaw in a couple of hours. If you are going to frost it, frost it when it is frozen.
Try putting it in the refrigerator over night.
Take it out the night before and allow it to thaw on the table or counter at room temp.

Yes, and it stays moist that way. A family member is a baker, and she makes cakes in advance and freezes them. They will keep for about a month. but don't microwave or put in the oven to defrost them. just let it thaw on the counter.

Let it thaw a bit first! You can warm it in a microwave, gently, if you have to.

Yes it is possible, but the results are not great, most microwave ovens have 'hot spots' some parts of the cake would cook quicker than others.
