Couple of hours. It is a nice drive with nice views. Stop and see the elephant seals as you go past before you get to the castle. A bit further down the road past Hearst you will find the artist community of Cambria. They have nice motels along Moonstone beach that look out on the ocean and a good place to eat is the Treasure Chest also in the same area. If you get to Cambria you will find the village divided into two sections so make sure you visit both parts since each has it's own look and shops. The weather can be rather cool at night and foggy in the mornings so take a sweater or jacket with you. If you like to camp there is a state campground in Cambria as well.
