Depending on your chosen route and travel speed and the amount of stops you make, it will take roughly 27.5 - 33.5 hours to drive straight through thing via 81 through Kentucky, to Texarkana, to I10 through to Houston. 81 is the fastest way, however the road is narrow, and extremely dark at night. You have to be alert and watch for falling rocks coming down the "mountains". Taking 95 south to Florida, then getting into I-10 takes a bit longer, but in my opinion is the easiest. I ended up outside of Mississippi by merging like map quest suggested coming down 81, it's easy to get lost and once you realize it, your way of track. My suggestion: fly!
