I am currently in school for phlebotomy and the course I am taking is 8 wks long however when done I will have completed all the necessary requirements by the state to work as a phlebotomist but become nationally certified I must take the national test after my class ends and pass at least with 70% and at the school I attend before I can test nationally I must complete 25 live sucessful venipuncture sticks to qualify to take the test. Each state varies and each job varies for what they require so you have to check into your states requirements I am in Texas by the way hope it helps
