Crossing the international date line takes almost no time at all. If the airliner is,

let's say, 100 yards long, and flies at 500 mph, then it takes the whole airplane

only about 0.41 second to cross the line on a perpendicular path.

Assuming you fly the great circle directly from DFW to Narita, and assuming you

fly at a constant 500 mph, your flight of 6427 miles lasts 12.85 hours, and you

cross the 180th meridian about 8.34 hours into the flight.

To be honest, the spot where this great circle crosses the 180th meridian is

near the Aleutian chain, and the IDL is shifted westward in this neighborhood.

But you know what ! ? There are so many variables here, like the airspeed, the

exact route, and the awkward phraseology of the question, that I do feel that

I've spent enough time on it, and I'll let it stand and submit my answer as it is.
