Obviously it depends on from which city you are leaving and arriving to, but I have driven from Bellingham, Wa to Phoenix, Az in around 25 hours as long as traffic isn't bad. It's best to find a time of day to leave that will ensure you miss rush hour in every major city from Seattle to LA. We left Bellingham at 2am to avoid it!
