It depends where you decide to get your education. Some Universities and colleges offer the courses. Also some private institutions offer it as well which usually goes by faster but can cost your more. I would over estimate ruffly 6 months to achieve this including testing and receiving your results. Keep in mind that this portion of the education is mainly the structure of Real Estate including ethics and law. You are not being taught how to buy and sell homes.
From my experience this has been a great career move. You definitely need to have a positive and optimistic attitude when you are first starting.
Keep in mind, you must have some money saved up to exist for the first year. You are going to have to invest in yourself which means advertising. There are many techniques (both expensive and inexpensive) to achieve this and a good choice in a brokerage will provide further education in this
