When choosing a BBQ grill there are a few things to keep in mind. If the smoky barbecue taste is most important to you, a charcoal grill would be your best option. But if quick and easy grilling is more your style, a grill that uses propane would better fit your lifestyle. Charcoal grills can take 30 minutes or more to get ready for cooking, while a propane grill simply needs to be turned on.
The main difference is in the fuel source, and honestly, most of that is up to personal preference. With a charcoal grill, you get less control but more flavor depending on what material you burn. A gas grill allows for excellent control, but lacks some of the characteristic "grill" taste of charcoal. A ceramic grill may be a nice compromise because it functions at very high temperatures while still allowing for maximum flavor.
Actually, you cook -- that is, heat up -- a steak on grill. YOu don't cool it. <grin> If you are asking how long you should wait to let the meat "rest" or "relax" after removing it from the grill, five to ten minutes is a good rule of thumb. The rest period allows the juices to retract into the meat, so they don't run all over the plate when the steak's cut.
it won't
It takes six min. per pound.
You should add enough charcoal to cover the bottom of the grill for even heating. Adding a little more will help if you have a lot you are planning to cook. If the coals die down you can always add more and give them about 20 minutes to light. Never add lighter fluid to hot coals
If an onion is wrapped in foil, it can take an hour.
First of all don't be scared of lighting the grill, I too was very scared of lighting my grill for the first time. Just remember fire safety. Stack your charcoal in a pyramid and hit it with lighter fluid on the four corners then the top of the pyramid. And soak them good, if you don't the wont light as easily. Take a long match and light it and light your corners then the top, once you get them lit add some more lighter fluid. After your coals turn ashy, spread them with tongs in an even layer. You will be ready to grill at this point. I found it easy to use the easy light charcoal briquettes the first few times I used my grill.
