If you are numbing your bellybutton for the purpose of piercing it yourself, I would strongly advise you not to do it, go to a professional, Professionals aren't just people who put needles into the skin but know about positions of muscle, nerves and blood vessels to avoid scaring, damage and death - yes you can easily kill yourself doing a piercing yourself (through body shock or infections). They know all about blood pathology and what to do if something goes wrong, you do not. The equipment is sterilized and the studio is as clean as a hospital room because it needs to be, you would not perform your own surgery so why do you think doing your own piercing is any different?

If your doing it yourself because your too young and your mom won't let you then then maybe you should wait just a little while longer or bug your mom some more so she will take you, if you pierce it yourself and it gets infected, your mom is going to have to take you to the doctor and shes going to know anyway! Good Luck!

Does your belly button get closed when your pregnant?

When you get pregnant, most care providers recommend removing your belly button ring. Even women who don't remove their rings report that belly button rings itch and pull as the belly stretches around the fifth or sixth month. There is also the risk of infection if the belly button ring scratches you or opens a small wound. If you do take out your belly button ring, the piercing hole will probably close, requiring you to re-pierce your belly button after having your baby. However, if you don't want to take out your belly button ring you may want to purchase a non-metal pregnancy piercing ring. These are flexible and two inches long to accommodate your growing belly. Pregnant women claim that this product allows them to keep their bellies pierced without the discomfort of other belly button piercing.
