According to bahn.de (Germany's railway site), it can take between 4:42 and 6:25, depending on the level of train. The ICE (Intercity express) trains are the fastest and offer the fewest stops.

Coming from Germany, you`d have to travel through the Netherlands, Belgium or France to reach the English Channel. Then you will have to cross over to the UK using an undersea train or a ferry ;-)
