first of all, i wouldn't suggest bulima as a weight loss option because it is extremely unhealthy and can lead to serious health problems if not stopped in time. If you are looking for a good way to lose weight i would suggest eating a healthy balanced diet and try to get at least 90 mins of physical activity a day. I know you have probably heard this before and think its not going to work or have tried it and have been unsucessful, however it is the healthiest way to lose weight and if you are dedicated to a healthy lifestyle, you will be suprised how fast you will start losing weight and how good you will feel after eating healthier and excersising more. :)
That's up to you. The behavior does not suddenly stop without an effort. In fact, it is addictive enough to continue as a lifelong obsession. I have corresponded with a woman in her sixties who has been bulimic for more than forty years! In the past, so little was known about bulimia that people commonly continued for years before seeking help. Now, there are national and local organizations, treatment facilities, private therapists, support groups, and books solely devoted to eating disorders.
There are a few necessary steps to recovery. The first is acknowledging that you have a problem and making the decision to change. For some people, prolonged therapy, or even hospitalization, is necessary. Generally, overcoming bulimia takes time and a firm commitment, and increased time, effort and determination will make it happen faster.
Eating disorders such as bulimia nervosa and anorexia nervosa can take anywhere from 5-10 years or longer for a full recovery. This depends on the patients willingness to get "better" and the support they receive from family, doctors, etc...
Every case is unique and requires different treatment approaches. In the majority of cases, relapses will and do occur often. This does not mean the patient has "fallen off the wagon". Relapses are normal and expected during a recovery period, although if the rituals become habitual to the patient again, they are no longer in true recovery.
The process is slow because the patient has to learn how to readjust to life without their eating disorder. This causes distress in their life and ultimately stress triggers many people's disease. The disease is their coping mechanism. To get fully recovered, one must learn to not use food, restriction, or purging as a coping mechanism and find a healthier alternative instead.
Bulimia begins destroying your health immediately! It is possible to die the very first time you purge, and you do irreversible damage every single. Bulimia erodes your teeth, damages the esophagous, puts a lot of strain on your heart, put your electrolytes out of balance, and affects every aspect of your health. It is never too soon to begin recovery. visit webiteback.com for more info.
The amount of time Bulimia treatment centers take to be effective differs from people to people. It also depends upon how much effort the patients put into overcoming their eating disorder and support from family members.
