Walnuts, as well as pecans and other types of nuts, will retain their flavor for many months in the freezer as long as they are in a sealed baggie or container. You can use plastic containers or leave them in the bag they were packaged in if bought from a store. You can also store nuts in the freezer in glass jars with lids.
