Actually that is false. Tuna live for about 20 years.

It is one of the longest living fish.

In captivity they live longer.

I just opened a Mylar bag of Tuna that was canned in January of 2005. It still looks and tastes like the day it was sealed. It has been stored in a box in a cool room that is always dark.

Check for an expiration date on the bottom of lid. It should be used before that date.
