Lakes have been around for millions of years. Since the formations of lakes and other bodies of water, one might have easily found 'muk' and other floating debris around the top layer.
it doesnt. But, you can evolve grimer to muk.
I'm not all that sure where you can catch a muk but i know where you can get a pre-evolution of it (grimer). Go to the safari in Pastoria city (if you want go upstairs and pay 100 pokedollars to look and see what Pokemon will be there) and pay 500pokedollars to play the safari game. look around all throught the stations and kinda go through that muddy grass or around the mud lakes in the tall grass. When i caught my Grimer I caught it at lv.26! Here's the way to evolve it into a muk.............all you have to do is, get your grimer to lv38 and thejn it will evolve into a muk! No. First of all, you need the National Pokedex. You need to go southwest and use the Poke Radar. If you're lucky, you'll catch a Grimer, about level 25. There is no way to catch a Muk, but you can get a Muk by evolving a Grimer. My Grimer was at level 25. I'm going to make it really powerful!
When Grimer reaches level 38, it evolves into a Muk.
Here is a battle of typhlosion and muk. Typhlosion uses fire blast, causing damage to muk. Muk uses sludge bomb, almost killing typhlosion. Typhlosion uses dragonclaw on Muk, killing it. In this case Typhlosion wins, but gets badly hurt by muk.
Grimer can evolve into Muk at level 38.
Muk is the better pokemon
Grimer will evolve to a Muk at Level 38.
Yon Hyong-muk died in 2005.

It can be if you teach it the right moves.
