Marvel and DC are competitors, known as the Big 2 in the comic book industry, but as far as sales go - tracked monthly in the comic industry - DC has overtaken Marvel very few months in the last 20 years.
It's not much of a "War" when it's that lopsided.
Marvel and DC have even "Teamed Up" a number of times to do "Company Crossovers" such as X-Men & Teen Titans, Spider-Man & Superman and the huge Amalgam crossover.
