Luigi is the taller younger brother of the Mario bros, he is known as Mario's shadow since he never gets out much and doesn't have great adventures like Mario does why because Mario doesn't want luigi to get hurt so he stays home while Mario has a blast going through a crazy adventure. As the colonel says in ssbb "look at his pale skin he's been sitting in Mario's shadow for to long" luigi has though had 2 adventures where he had to save Mario in Mario's Missing for the SNES and Luigi's Mansion for the Gamecube. He's also known for his mysterious nature and interesting dance skills he is famous for his high jumping known as the air jumper by some. Luigi is also known for his green clothes along with his blue overalls he can use the same powerups as Mario but he always looks a little different like fire luigi has white overalls and a white hat. Also since Mario's cousing is Wario Luigi has a cousin who is Waluigi. Luigi is also terrified of ghosts its funny how Nintendo put him in charge of a haunted mansion in luigis mansion!

If you want to start at the introduction of the distinct Mario style, It's 1985's Super Mario Bros. (Introduces goombas, mushrooms, etc.) and for the introduction of the complete Mario team with toad added It's Super Mario Bros. 2 from 1987. For the 3D Mario style to see the light of day (For stuff like Mario Galaxy or Mario 3d land) It was Super Mario 64 from 1996.
