the native Americans who were living in the area where the pilgrims settled
In that area there were many people living there. You need to provide a tribal name. In the area where Jamestown was built there was an empire of 15,000 Native Americans and in North America were millions of Native Americans.
The Roanoake were a group of Native Americans living in the Chesapeake Bay area. There was a settlement there that completely disappeared, the natives are believed to be connected to the disappearance in some way...whether or not they killed the settlers or the settlers were absorbed into their tribe is not evident.
The early settlers in the Massachusetts Bay area experienced fewer difficulties with Native Americans than the colonists in Chesapeake. This occurred because the early settlers of the Bay region bought land from the native people as opposed to fighting over the land.

The New England colonies relied on fishing to make a living. They also relied on the help from the Native Americans in the area.
The Iron Horse--
The Pilgrims primarily settled in Plymouth, Massachusetts, and focused their fishing activities in the surrounding waters of New England. While they did not fish in the Chesapeake Bay, the region was known for its rich fishing grounds, and other settlers and Native Americans in that area did engage in fishing. The Pilgrims relied on local resources, including fish, to sustain themselves, but their fishing activities were not centered in the Chesapeake Bay.
