The Apache wikiup was a thatched hut like home for most Apache. This was a simple wood frame that had thick layers of long grass overlapped for walls. The plains Apache generally used hide instead of the long grass since it was easier to heat and more spacious.
The Apache Indians used a variety of weapons including Tomahawks, Knives, War Clubs, Bows and Arrows, and Lances (spears), most of which were made of wood and either rock or bone. Most Apaches also carried a Rawhide Shield, which was thick animal skin stretched over a circular wood frame.
Tribally, the Apache reservations are still active in the southwestern United States. However, there are also Apaches that scattered from the reservations. For instance, my grandfather was an Apache that grew up in Florida away from tribal life, although he still had an appreciation for his background.
Native Americans were in the Memphis area long before anyone laid claim to the area. When De Soto explored the area he was the first outsider to see the Indians and there land. The Indians hated him so much when he died he was buried in the Mississippi river so the Indians would not destroy his body.
The Sioux have been in north America as long as any other tribe.
