Tracker boats were in conception for some time but did not become commercially available until 1978. Bass Pro Shop founder, Johnny Morris had released the tracker boat at that time.

the first boats were carved out of a giant tree log
Oak wood.
Boats and ships can be made of just about anything as long as the vessel has an average density less than water and does not immediately dissolve (e.g. salt, paper pulp). Most modern ships are made of steel or aluminum. Boats are made of metal, wood, plastic, or fiberglass. The earliest boats were made of logs or woven reeds.
It is possible that they may have made small boats made of hides or birch bark, similar to the the coracle or umiak, however no remains of boats have been found from that period.
Ships tend to be made of metal, and/or wood, and/or fiberglass. However, the materials for boats can vary greatly. For instance, there have been boats made out of bricks and still others made out of animal skin.
Most modern speed boats are made out of fiberglass, however in the past they have been made out of wood. Boats such as canoes are also made out of plastic and aluminum. Large ships are made out of steel.

The narrow, flat bottomed vessels that have been used on the Nile River for centuries are a type of long boat. The boats needed either oars or a long pole to get through the water. The boats were made of papyrus reeds or wood.
Boats are made out of many different materials; the only requirement is that they be waterproof (since boats are used in the water). Historically, boats were always made of wood since there wasn't any other material available that would work as well, although wood has to be carefully treated in order for it to be waterproof. But in more recent times, boats have been made of steel, aluminum, fiberglass, plastic, and so forth. Ceramic or glass have generally not been used, because although they are quite waterproof, they are too easily breakable.
Fast speed boats are made of materials that are used to make fast speed boats.
