No, their memories aren't nearly that long. I used to have 2 kittens who were reunited with their own littermate after a month apart--they had no idea she was family. Territory warfare almost broke out, just the way it does between cats who are total strangers.
I've even heard it suggested that cats have no concept of individuals, only situations. Your cat knows the person who fills her food bowl, the one she sleeps with at night, and the one who chases her off the kitchen table, but she can't understand that all those people are the same. So she might have completely different reactions to you based on where you are and what time it is. I don't know if this is true (it seems to explain some of the cats I've had but not others). Still, if that's really all the knowledge a cat needs about an individual, then 1) they never really knew you to begin with and 2) their memories of people only need to last as long as their routine stays the same.
Yes. The story of my own cat says that cats do remember.
actually its proven that cats brains are structured almost just like humans. it is said they have fairly good recollection- memory-
Normally, cats will usually not remember things for very long of a time. If you did something to harm the cat, they may remember it for a longer period of time.
it is less than 24 hours
the memory span of a cat is 17 months

Hamsters commonly do not have long memories. A typical hamster can only remember something for a few hours, although some would argue that hamsters can remember certain things their whole lives.
i heard a rabbits memory is almost like a human beings, it can remember things for a very long time.
A dog has a flash memory, meaning it can capture a moment and refer back to it. They remember through repetition, rewards, smells and textures. Dogs are capable of remembering things from their entire life.
Yea, if u abuse a cat it will renember you for years

They can pine for the loss of a long term cat companion.
It depends on the species. Larger species of parrots can remember things for decades, smaller birds will remember things for years.
Yes. Although the cat may bump into a few things first, they can survive If kept indoors and everything they need Is left where they will remember it.
by using the hippocampus -apex-
they have a very good memory and if the cat had a bad owner that abused the cat the cat would remember also if the cat had a really nice owner the cat would remember but lets say the cat had an owner that worked full time......and the cat never saw the owner then it would not remember.

Yes they do! A bearded dragon will remember who feeds them the most and holds them the most. If I were to give my bearded dragon to a stranger and walk out of the room that beardie would come looking for me if it could, they get very agitated if they can't see their owner. Many beardies have been known to get sick when left with strangers over a long period of time because they will not eat.
no not really ! you can remember the little things like i love you but not long storys ! you make them up to your friends if they ask :D
Sadly all living things including you're cat will die, it is one of the laws of nature, hopefully it will have lived a long and happy life.
if you want to stay mad at your parents for a long time, remember what mean things they have done to you. that will make you madder. if you don't want to be mad at your parents for a long time remember the good things they have done to make you happy. then you might be happier. personal experience here.
