You may not drive if you are not capable of passing a drug test. So...whatever drug you did, however long it takes to clear from your system is how long you can't drive.
That's the official Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration answer. The real answer depends on two things: whose truck you drive and who you're working for.
If you are an independent driver--that is, you own the truck and get your own loads--you can go back on the road as soon as you're back in service.
If you're a company driver (someone else owns the truck and you drive as an employee) or a contract driver (it's your truck but you drive under contract to a trucking company) you have a problem: you're going to be fired for peeing hot, you're required to list your employment history for the last 10 years to get a new job, and you must give permission to the other companies for release of drug testing records. And no trucking company will hire you if you were terminated for failing a drug test. The contract drivers can start working for themselves after getting their authority and a trailer, but company drivers need to look for a job in a different industry.
