About 3-4 feet long.
there are electromechanical sirens or there are sirens that have a combination of one or more loudspeakers (usually used for broadcasting voice messages). they also are either rotational sirens (horn rotates 360), or omni-directional sirens (points in all directions). See the related links below for examples.
The Thunderbolt was, and still is, a wonderful siren. It is also a belt-driven pain to maintain, especially if mounted on a pole. Belts break and grease gives out so preventative maintenance kept the sirens going- when it was done. The Thunderbolt has a blower in a box and up top on a pole (more often than not) has another box with the chopper and rotator motor which make the noise and move the horn around. Federal Signal no longer makes the siren nor does it stock parts. However some businesses and enthusiasts specialize in keeping the existing units going. The rotator's design was used in Federal's 2001 sirens. Federal Signal Discontinued the Thunderbolt in Part because of the Frequent Maintenence required to keep the Siren Functioning Optimally....The Thunderbolt had many Parts that could Break.....the Number of Parts also Possibly Contributed to This....Besides having a Chopper and Rotator Motor...the Thunderbolt also used a Large Blower to Force Great amounts of Air through the Chopper to make the Siren Louder or "Supercharge" it. in 1988 the Thunderbolt's Replacement....the 2001 was Introduced.....it Required much less Maintence, and had Fewer Parts,Two Years Later in 1990 the Federal Signal Thunderbolt was Discontinued.
Yup. My Jolteon learned ThunderBolt a long time ago and still knows it.
For nothing. Sirens are a thing of a later age and were then mostly used to indicate start or end of work on factory sites. In 1793, people were roused to whatever action by blowing a horn.
You must have assigned the horn button in the game. You need to hit that button short so the sirens will turn on.You can hit the button back to turn the sirens off.Make sure you hit it real short.
6 years!
Tornado sirens have to turn of after sounding for a bit because running them for too long can damage them.
Sirens are a mythological creature, they were never real beings; hence, never alive.
A killer whale does not have a horn.

Upstate counties and Long Island has tornado sirens. The State government is reviewing the topic and might install more of them in the near future.
