Hi I live in Melbourne and I'v done the drive a few times, the trip can be done in 2 full days.. If you want to see the coast I would stop along the way at maybe.. Batemans Bay, Merimbula, Lakes Entrance. Also I love Wilsons Promontory National Park. Phillip Island has some great beachers. There's alot to see. I would take the time to see it all. Or you can take the inland Hume highway it only takes 9 hours, but not much to see. Hope that helps have a safe trip.
