You cant fly direct, so via Auckland would be the way to go. LAX - AKL is approx 12 hours and AKL - WLG is 1 hour. Add a couple of hours to make sure you get your connection and a nice round 15 hours is prob about right. You also lose a day crossing the international date line which can get rather confusing to say the least
