I would not use it as it breaks down chemically. Take your unused expired prescriptions to any local pharmacist, preferably your own; they have programs to dispose of unused meds. Your city or county may also have information on safe disposal locations. DO NOT FLUSH medications down the toilet or dispose of them in your sink. This would pollute the water supply as most municipal water depts. do not filter out such things. Many psych meds have a litany of side effects, and can be contraindicated for people who have other conditions.
For those who are in dire need for say one dose until seeing the Doc on Monday, properly stored away from heat, light, and excess moisture or as directed, many non-liquid preparations are often ok for a few months or maybe longer past expiration, but use discretion. Some drugs have been shown to have partial efficacy years after labelled expiration dates, again be aware this is a potential risk and meds lose potency over time.

They can last forever. The only problem with using them past the expiration date is the longer the inhaler goes past the expiration date the less effective the medication will be.
