There is a good possibility that GM trucks of that vintage had problems with the headlight switch. Check it before you replace it. Remove the 4 screws at the corners of the dasboard assembly, pull the assembly toward you and you should be able to get to the switch.
Then the problem must be ahead (before) the headlamp (wiring, switch, fuse).
You use trucks because you want to do heavy work in transporting goods or if you are in the construction business you want to make your work easier. You need trucks because other transport is too light to do your work. Or carry large items.

Your trucks are too loose... Tighten down your king pin until the trucks are stiff, but just soft enough to turn slightly... If that doesn't work try switching out (assuming they're stock trucks) the softer rubber bushings with the more rigid polyurethane type.. Tighten trucks up as needed..
