There would be no reason to "clear the lungs" for a chest x-ray since the purpose of the chest x-ray is to evaluate the condition of the lungs. If something shows up on the chest x-ray that needs to be treated, it isn't something that you could do yourself beforehand. Depending on what is in the lungs, antibiotics, steroids, dialysis, breathing treatments, and endotracheal tube placement can improve the condition the lungs appear to be in when an x-ray is taken.

"Lungs of the world" is a catchy phrase but shows a lack of understanding of one of lungs or forests. Lungs take in air and remove oxygen and exchange it with carbon dioxide then expel it. Forests take in carbon dioxide and expel oxygen - the opposite process. Forests might be called "the air hose of the world" or "the Scuba tank of the world", but this doesn't seem to be as catchy a slogan.
