Done correctly, indefinitely.
It should unless someone has changed the door lock due to iy being damaged.
If I remember correctly, an ignition "Kill Switch" is a secret switch (or button) that must be pushed into a particular position for the ignition system to start the car.... That being said.... Simple. If it's a button that has to be pressed for the (key) ignition to start the car, duct tape it in place. Same for a "light switch" switch". OR...you could solder a wire to circumvent the switch..... :) Now remember...if the switch uses a thicker wire....you're going to want to use a thicker wire when you solder it :)
nevermind it ended up being the ignition coil

it sounds like you should have a eletrical spark coming out of your coil ckeck there first, on the two cherrokees I have own it was the fuel system, pluged filter, weak fuel pump made starting intermitant if your 1990 jeep is carberated try a table spoon of gas in the carb. be very carful not to spill gas all over it will burn if there is a back fire thru the carb.good luck P.S.please be very careful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!AnswerYour problem may exist in the ignition switch whereas the trigger may not be resting properly on its contact position. Try manipulating the switch back and forth to see if it will engage. I've had this problem several times, started to replace the switch, but worked it until the jeep cranked. ANSWEROn mine, WE tried the ignition switch and changed the fuel filter/pump. Ended up being the fuel relay switch. (7 hours of labor at the dealer later)
the inertia switch locks the ignition. this can occur without the airbags being deployed. if your car wont start it is a good possibility that the inertia switch has locked the ignition. the switch is usually located on the passenger side of the vehicle behind the kick panel on the right side

You need a new ignition switch .Dont have a lot of keys on your key ring all that weight wears them out.
Wear an ignition safety switch lanyard so you can turn it off.
turn ignition to on position 10 -15 mins or until anti theft light goes off, turn off 5 secs then start ,should run fine
