i have a big problem for getting to sleep at night.i would say it depends if your tired or not but average 30 - 45 mins at least.Your body needs time to relax and loosen up before you fall asleep

it is okay to sleep after eating dinner as long as you give some time to digest the food you have eaten.
You should never sleep with an eletric blanket.
REM sleep happens when you are deeply asleep, so you should be able to sleep without being disturbed for at least a few hours, since it may take that long. Although it can happen faster.
To be safe, I would give it about 4 hours or a good sleep before you take any form of medication.
If the pain of sleeping on it is tolerable then it should be ok to sleep on it.
