In the original Series of Doctor Who they usually lasted between 21 and 25 minutes. In Season 22 the episodes were increased to around 45 minutes each. They then returned to the same length as they had been previously. In the original series the stories were almost always more than one episode long.
The new series regular episodes were between 43 and 48 minutes in length. The Christmas specials and other special specials were almost all longer.
