No, you do not have to go through the Screamattraction at Madame Tussauds. You walk through a hallway where there are advertisements for the attraction, but then you get to a place where you can enter Scream or continue your leisure through the wax museum.

I thought of the same thing but I had to go with my school group. It was actually kind of cool. The wax dolls were pretty realistic and they said they have about 200 of them. I showed pictures that I took wiht Johnny Depp to my parents and they thought he was real. It was pretty funny. (:
