GROUP MEETINGS AT THE HOSPITAL AND WHEN YOUR RELEASED WILL GIVE YOU THE SUPPORT YOU NEED PSYCHOLOGICALLY TO STAY CLEAN. BUT YOU HAVE TO DO THE PROGRAM, YOU HAVE TO HAVE SUPPORT, THERE IS EVEN ON LINE GROUPS IF YOU DON'T HAVE TIME OR DON'T WISH TO GO OUT TO A PUBLIC MEETING.

It completely depends on the dose of the opiate and the duration your were abusing. I can only share my experience....I was taking at least 100mg (10/325) hydrocodone or oxycodone each day. When you quit cold turkey the very next day isn't so bad, its the day after that and the day after that. It took me a good two weeks before I wanted to participate in life.

Just a thought if you are seriously physically dependant.....try Subutex, or Suboxone.

I am a throat cancer Survivor. I had massive does of morphine. Patches,pills, liquid and intravenously. During recovery each does was reduced until I was on just pills. One day i missed my time slot and started to panic because I expected pain. It did not come so I waited. To make a long story short, It took 2 or 3 days to stop taking that stuff and had to simply wait out the sick feeling for the 2 or 3 days. It really was not to hard. I did not like the feeling from being loopy anyway.

It deoends what pills. Oxycontin is rough. Methadone is the worst. Lortab and Vicadan about seven days.It is all not fun You must watch your blood pressure. It also depends how long and how much you take rtab about 7 days It is important you watch your blood pressure and hydrate.

Depending on the pain pills it can take up 3 days to one week to detox from pain pills.
