Anne Boleyn Anne Boleyn was the second of King Henry VIII's six wives. As the wife of the King, she was Queen Consort - not the same as being Queen in her own right. She married Henry VIII in January 1533 and was crowned as Queen Consort on 28th May the same year. After giving birth to the future Queen Elizabeth I on 7th September 1533, she had several miscarriages and it became clear that she would not produce the son which Henry so dearly wanted. In May 1536, Anne was arrested and charged with Treason, Witchcraft and incest, charges which were probably untrue. She was convicted and on 19th May 1536 was executed by beheading. Her marriage to the King, and her period as Queen Consort had lasted 3 years and 3 months.
