Western Field 48A was made for Montgomery Wards by Mossberg. The model 48A is a Mossberg 45B .22 caliber Long Rifle
It is a 22 Caliper Short, Long and Long Rifle Bolt Action Rifle, with a clip, that holds about 6 shells. From my understanding, it was based on the Mossberg Model 30, and made by Mossberg for Montgomery Wards. Made between 1933 and 1935.

Usually. They may not feed well in semi auto, pump or lever guns. Some will, some won't. But if it will chamber it will shoot.

Your rifle was made by Savage for Montgomery Wards (it is a Savage Model 29 D1) These had a VERY long production life- late 1920s to about 1967. Very nice little rifles- values for a good specimen can run $200 and up.

Is this a cook stove? I just purchased a Montgomery Ward three burner cook stove. It has a kerosene tank at the back and long legs to sit on the floor. I paid $45.00. The unit needs new wicks. but works fine with the existing wicks.
