The gestation period for this fish is usually 28 days but sometimes can take some more time. Like all livebearers when the female is in pregnant it will develop a dark triangular shaped gravid spot near her anal vent. As the pregnancy progresses this dark triangular shaped gravid spot will get larger and darker.
Well it depends. I had a molly and she did not eat any of her babies. I had another molly and she did eat her babies. So if she starts to eat her babies make sure you take them out. Sometimes she looks like she will eat her babies, but she is helping them to start swimming. That what my first molly did. All mollies are different.
Yes. All mammals take care of their babies.
Because the babies take all the attention
my yellow spotted balloon molly just had babies and some are black, some are dark gray and some are clearish silver so i would say no, they are different colors when born. but it will take a while for them to get their adult colors, a few months.
Way to long. I sold like all my adult fish so i would have enough and then it took too long all my rare babies died :(
Sometimes they will, but most of the time the babies are black. My Molly Fish just had babies and all but one was black. The other one was brown. So, yeah. They can be brown.
You can tell when a molly has finished giving birth when she stops actively pushing and all the babies have been born. The birthing process usually takes a few hours, so if she has been in labor for a while and no more babies are being born, it is likely that she has finished giving birth.
It wouldn't take very long at all, but 1 gal. is not enough for the two of them. Just think of all the adult babies stuck in there too. Get a bigger tank.
Of course! Even babies can wear contacts, they have been approved for people of all ages as long as you take care of them.
If the babies are still fluffy and cheeping it's better not to take the babies away from the mother or otherwise, The mother will be stressed and looking for them all day long, Which wouldn't be fair on her. You can give the chickens away when you identified them if they're a rooster or hen.
They breed all year long.
mollys are very anti-aggresive.. by them normal fish food. and blood worms..but only feed them the blood worms once a week or maybe twice.. as a treat :)
