Piercing apprentice here. When the lip is pierced, the skin is broken, and slowly begins to regenerate another thin layer of skin around the walls of the wound through which the jewelry was placed. This new skin is called epithelium. As the hole heals and the epithelium forms, the outsides of the hole (the skin surfaces on the inside and outside of the mouth) will begin to round inwards. This process in lip piercings usually takes only 6-8 weeks. If your jewelry was left in for 5 months, it was more than likely fully healed by the time you removed it. In this case, the hole created by the piercing will never truly close, just tighten greatly, leaving a minuscule opening that may resemble a small dimple.

It take as long as it takes to heal not everyone heals at the same rate so it depends on the size of the piercing and your over all health. It will close just give it tame and leave it alone.

You are a 16 boy and you had your left ear pierced for 8 months and had not wore an earring for 9 months how long will it take for the piercing to close up?

Uh, strange way of asking the question, but, okay, I've changed genders, and I've had my ear (I assume you mean a regular lobe piercing?) pierced for 8 months... How quickly it will close depends -- in addition to depending on how long you've had it and the location of the piercing -- on the person's body. It's possible that it will never close, since you/he had it in for so long. A tongue-piercing can close up in less than an hour because the cells in your mouth grow very quickly, but an earlobe piercing is probably, of all piercings, the most slowly-closing, and also the most likely to stay open. I know of many females who had their ears pierced, didn't wear jewelry for that long (a few months), stopped due to constant irritation/allergies, and then -- years later -- were like "hmm, I wonder if I still have a hole.." and, lo and behold, they do. So if it's really important for you that this close, you might be out of luck. I don't know how young you mean by "boy". The younger you/he are/is, the more likely it is to close, perhaps.

You really want to get your ears pierced again you already have your lobe pierced but you want another one any ideas and nothing to crazy?

i'd suggest rook or tragus..unless you're not opposed to having a second lobe piercing on each ear

How long does it take for a piercing to close just after getting a piercing?

a few days or just overnight it actually really depends on the piercing. A lip or tongue piercing will begin to close almost immediately if it was pierced very recently(within a month-ish of being pierced) However everyone is different but the mouth is known to be the quickest healing of the human body. Ear lobes Vs ear cartilage piercing will differ as well. A lobe will heal faster than cartilage because cartilage takes longer to develop. So it really depends on your body type and what type of piercing.

Which side of the top ear do you get pierced if your straight and a girl?

contrary to popular misbelief there is no gay straight side to ear cartilage or ear lobe piercing.

Will an ear lobe piercing close up correctly?

yes it will. i just got my ears piercied about one year ago and it is just now healing. your ears take about 1 year to heal all of the way. but if you are just getting your ears pierced you will have to wait about 3 months to where regular earrings. you cna clean it with alcohol to shorten the healing process Yes barring any infections or injuries on the ear lobe

Just got the skin right where the lobe turns into the cartilage pierced ears have always rejected cartilage piercing maybe they snipped a piece of cartilage sightly red and a little swollen?

If the piercing was done with a piercing gun then that should answer the question.

What is the difference between the ear lobes and ear cartilage?

Your ear lobe is the dangly bit it the bottom of your ear that you can ben and that. The Cartalage is the rest of your ear above the lobe. I have both pierced so if your looking for piercing advice, the lobe dosent hurt at at all, but the cartalage is quite sore and throbs for like 2 hours after getting it done. Piercing the lobe yourself is easy but your better to get the cartalage done profesionaly.

How long will your lobe piercing be sore and swollen for?

Ive had my ear lobe pierced for about 12 weeks, and it just started not getting swollen and sore about 4 weeks ago. So id say about 4-7 weeks

Does it hurt when you get your cartilage pierced?

It really doesn't hurt very bad. But when its pierced you will hear a good "pop" or "crunch" sound (which most piercing junkies like myself think is funny) My advice though is to make sure to have it pierced in a tattoo or piercing parlor which uses one use sterilized needles NOT a piercing gun. It will hurt less and heal much, much better. What most shops that use piercing guns probably wont tell you is that the gun is actually not intended for any piercing other than lower lobe.

What is the best place to get your ears pierced?

The answer depends on which way you mean this question. If you mean the best place on your ear to get pierced, try this:If you are getting your first piercing, the company you get your ears pierced with will recommend a lobe piercing. This is the standard piercing, and is the best one to get at first to become used to the cleaning requirements and earring requirements. After that, cartilage piercings and more lobe piercings are fine.If you plan on getting more lobe piercings after your first lobe piercing, try suggesting to the person doing the piercing, that you'd like hole a little more towards your face than the center of the lobe. By doing this, you enable more space for more piercings at a later time.If you are choosing the best spot based off of pain level, a lobe piercing is the best option for the first go around. A cartilage piercing is more painful and very hard to keep up (i.e. cleaning). For more advanced piercings, you can get your ears pierced in several ways such as: Conch, Snug, Industrial, Forward Helix, Rook, and Tragus. To see locations of these piercings, see the Related Links below. If you want to know the best stores/companies/shops to get your ears pierced at, try this:With personal experiences, Pagoda is a fine place to start your piercings. With your first piercing you get a free set of earrings of your choice.* Their piercings are extremely sterile. After your first piercing the company also gives you a coupon for a discount on another pair of earrings or their jewelry.*The free set is only available from a select style set by the company.Another Question:In USA, Piercing Pagoda is probably the best choice. But in Canada? Where? : Claire's? ICING by Claire's? Ardene?
