There's 4 on each side of the motor. You should see a long cover on each Sid of the motor. Remove the cap and the coils are the 4 screwed-in pieces you see. The coils are on the spark plugs.... If you replace the spark plugs and there's oil inside of the plugs and coils, you'll need to replace the plugs, coils, and the valve cover gasket.. I think this is an issue on every 2000 Lincoln LS.
I have a 2000 Lincoln Ls with 197,000 miles on it. So to answer the question, it will last as long as you take care of it and maintain it correctly.
what are the specs for a 3.9l long block Lincoln ls 2000 model
Good question.
According to the 2000 Lincoln Town Car owners manual : ( 215.3 inches long ) * and 221.3 inches long if it the long wheel base version *
They usually last forever if you replace the engine and replace parts! It will be bad on Gas Milage though......
You will have two coil packs bolted to the top of the motor towards the intake manifold, there will be two 10mm bolts in both. Remove the coil packs and and pull on the spark plug wires (there should also be a plug boot under each coil pack) be careful to not break the boots or damage the coil packs for they are not cheap. After that you will need a long extension and a spark plug socket. Good luck!
