I am not a medical professional, but it would seem to me that as long as you were getting the nescesarry nutrients into your body via the IV, then a stomach would not be needed, as all the stomach does is break down food. The breakdown occurs so that your colon can digest the food and remove the nutrients. You would not need the food if you were being fed through an IV, so the stomach would be pointless.
