You can start by just grabbing small pieces of your hair and twisting it. You have to keep twisting it every other day until it catches and once it catches and as it grows longer you repeat the twisting process.
My husband started with just little knots, he twisted and twisted and now his dreads sits on his on his chest, almost close to his elbows when sitting. They are very long.
