If you're still looking for a wiring diagram, I can try to dig out this book and find it. (There's no date on this question, so I'm not sure how long ago it was asked)

Yes. '71 was still a Pontiac block. I think '77 trans am's were the last to receive Pontiac blocks.

No. General Motors, or to be more specific, the Pontiac division of General Motors ceased production of the Pontiac Firebird model in 2002. The Pontiac division itself became defunct in 2010.
