In some way or another, most, if not all of the war's (involving modern nations) fought in the 20th century effected some sort of social reform.

America won the World War 1, World War 2, and the Gulf War in the 20th centry. The Cold War was just ended. So we lost the Korean and Vietnam War in the 20th centry.

For the first time the Union and Confederate armies no longer marched out in the open and fought parade style (except in the very beginning of the war). They dug in, and fought the way 20th century wars would be fought.
