A:

Probably none. This is not to say that prophecies can never come true - for example, when Josephus was captured by the Roman General Vespasian, he said that Vespasian was the long-awaited Jewish Messiah and prophesied that he would become emperor of Rome. When that prophecy did come true, Josephus was granted his freedom and even allowed to use the imperial family name, Flavius. If enough people prophesy, some of the prophecies will indeed come true.

Answer:

There were many minor prophecies in the Old Testament that dealt with the day-to-day events of the Israelites, that are perhaps too many to mention. These minor prophecies were each fulfilled in their day.

Joseph's dreams [visions]... both of his brothers bowing to him, which got him sold to Egypt; and later his dream of the seven-years of prosperity and seven-years of famine, are examples of prophecies fulfilled.

But the seven commanded annual Holy Day feasts of God [to be observed every year by God's people] listed in Leviticus 23, reveal God's plan for mankind. These are all prophecies... of which only the first three "early spring harvest" ones have been [and are currently CONTINUING TO BE] fulfilled.

1) Passover: the death and resurrection of Christ. Jesus fulfilled this on that Passover day long ago when He died... and three days and three nights later when He rose from the dead. He commands His servants to "REMEMBER" Him throughout all the succeeding generations of His church, until He returns, every Passover with the symbols of the "Bread and Wine" [His broken body and shed blood]. This is an ongoing, active fulfillment... and renewal of Faith and Hope in the plan of God.

2) The Days of Unleavened Bread: begins the day after the Passover [and is the first "feast" day - Lev.23:6 -- the Passover is a "solemn memorial" not a feast]; the unleavened bread is the unblemished, unembellished Word of God, The Bible, that since Christ, has been, and is now, revealed and understood by His servants through the Illuminating Power of the Holy Spirit, which was first given to them on...

3) Pentecost: since that Pentecost that followed that fulfilled Passover long ago... the Holy Spirit has been, and still is, being given to millions of repentant, converted people whose Faith is in the blood of Christ. Those whom the Father has been calling and giving to His Son, to train to fill the offices and positions of rulership in the coming Kingdom.

These three prophecies are all still being actively fulfilled right under the nose of an ignorant and deceived world.

The FINAL FOUR annual "fall harvest" prophetic feasts HAVE NOT BEEN FULFILLED YET.

The "springtime" prophecies above is the ongoing preparation of the "firstfruits" of God's early harvest -- his saints. Those through whom the Father is preparing a fully qualified and ready group to take over the Rule of the Earth after He removes all of man's governments.

"...in the end the People of the Most High God shall RULE THE GOVERNMENTS OF THE WORLD forever and forever." (Dan.7:18 LVB Living Bible)

Even these first three aren't COMPLETELY fulfilled yet. The final number of the "early spring harvest" needed by God for His Kingdom is only known to the Father. And when the Father has called that last [predestined] saint... and Christ deems him ready -- Jesus will return... and the final four end time [fall harvest] prophecies will see their fulfillment: beginning with the "Feast of Trumpets. The prophecies tell us, Jesus returns at "the sounding of the last trumpet" [see I Thess.4:16 & I Cor.15:52].

In the case of all of these prophecies... they are all "Christ-centered"... and like the first three ongoing prophecies -- Jesus Christ SHALL FULFILL THEM ALL.

4) The Feast of Trumpets: Christ's return.

5) The Day of Atonement: Christ lays the sins of the world on Satan's head and banishes him from influencing the nations of the world for a thousand years [Lev.16].

6) The Feast of Tabernacles: Christ and His saints rule the nations of the world for a thousand years... teaching them the ways of God [Rev.20].

7) The Last Great Day: Judgment Day. The Great "White Throne" [Rev.20:11] Judgment of all the generations of Satan-deceived mankind who lived and died in ignorance of God's Truth.

"In the Last Day, that Great Day of the Feast [of Tabernacles], Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, LET HIM COME UNTO ME, and drink. He that believeth on Me, as the Scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of Living Water. (But this spake He of the Spirit, which they that believe on Him should receive: for the Holy Spirit was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet Glorified.)" (John 7:37-39)

MOST of the end time prophecies of God's plan of Salvation and the establishment of the Kingdom of God on earth have NOT BEEN FULFILLED yet. It takes time to train a top-notch Administration to rule the world Righteously. It takes Faith and "patience."

"...when the Son of Man cometh, shall He find Faith on the earth?" (Luke 18:8)

"...if we must keep Trusting God for something that hasn't happened yet, it teaches us to wait patiently and confidently." (Rom. 8:25 LVB)

"...Someday PROPHECY, and speaking in unknown languages, and special knowledge -- these gifts will disappear." (I Cor.13:8 LVB)

The ultimate fulfillment of every last prophecy all hinges on the return of Jesus Christ.

Answer

Unique among all books ever written, the Bible accurately foretells specific events-in detail-many years, sometimes centuries, before they occur. Approximately 2500 prophecies appear in the pages of the Bible, about 2000 of which already have been fulfilled to the letter-no errors.

Now, having said this, you must also match up who the FALSE MESSIAH will be. He is walking the Earth right now... some speculate he is Obama, the President. Millions are addressing him as "Messiah" and he seems to accept t his king of praise and worship. We will see.

It is difficult to think of any biblical prophecies that have genuinely come true. Of course, if enough people make enough prophecies, some will come true and some will fail. In other cases, a scriptural passage that was not even intended as a prophecy can be interpreted as such in hindsight, by people who wish to prove the miraculous.

To decide whether a prophecy has come true, we have to be sure that the meaning of the prophecy is unambiguous and that it came true after the prophecy was written down. We also need confirmation that the event that was prophesided really did happen. So, when Isaiah chapter 14 said that a young woman would conceive and have a baby, and the prediction came true a few verses later in the same book, we can not know that Isaiah really did prophesy this, or that he simply wrote the prophecy and the actual birth in hindsight. And when Matthew used exactly the same prophecy to foreshadow the virgin birth of Jesus, we should remember many theologians now doubt whether the birth of Jesus was really a virgin birth, as well as that Isaiah never mentioned Jesus by name nor identified him in any way.

Whenever the books of the New Testament look back to the Old Testament and 'discover' a prophecy fulfilled in the New Testament, we have to ask whether the New Testament story was simply written in the knowledge of the Old Testament, with the intention of demonstrating the miraculous. So, biblical prophecies must be fulfilled outside the Bible. And this fulfilment is exceedingly scarce.

In more recent times, some find obscure passages, especially in Isaiah, that they believe to have been fulfilled in Christianity, even though Jewish experts in Hebrew seem never to be able to find the same prophecy. Burton L. Mack (Who Wrote the New Testament) says there is a trick he sees happen all the time in the classrooms of the School of Theology at Claremont. At first the study of a text may not seem to support a traditional Christian conviction, or the answer one hopes to find in the Bible. But one can set up the comparison again with other emphases and make the answer come out right.

One prophecy that certainly came true was that Vespatian would become emperor of Rome. During the early stages of the Roman-Jewish War, the Jewish priest, military leader, and later historian, Josephus, was captured in Galilee. He told his captors that the star that appeared about the same time, in 68 CE, was a sign that Vespatian was the long-awaited Jewish Messiah and prophesied that Vespatian would become emperor. Soon after, Vespatian really did become emperor, and freed Josephus from slavery, with great honours.

Answer:

Prophecies of historical significance would be found in Daniel's 2nd and 7th chapters, regarding the four major world-ruling governments of man: Babylon, Persia, Greece and Rome. Chapter 2 was king Nebuchadnezzar's dream... chapter 7 was Daniel's.

Both dreams were about the same government systems of man, only with different venues. The Babylonian king's dream seems to have revolved around the declining "spiritual values" of each successive government system, depicted by the declining rarity of the metals by which each empire was composed: Babylon, gold; Persia, silver; Greece, brass; Rome, iron mixed with miry clay.

Daniel's dream of these government systems reveals God's opinion of man's governments: BEASTLY! Rome being the most pagan and barbarous... the system of government that is the foundation of the modern governments of the "free world" today.

In both dreams, however... they both conclude with the coming of the Kingdom of God to earth to smash them and rule the earth in a hostile takeover.

Probably hundreds. Here are a few examples.

Isaiah 13:17

Babylon would be attacked by the Medes.

Isaiah 13:19

Babylon's kingdom will be overthrown, permanently.

Isaiah 14:23

Babylon would become swampland.

Isaiah 27:12-13

God promised to restore the Jews. This came true in Second Temple times, and again later.

Isaiah 41:12-14

God will help Israel during times of conflict with enemies (if the people are loyal to God). Isaiah said this during a time when Judah was soon to be conquered by Babylon, and the Ten tribes had been exiled.

Since 1948, Israel has been attacked by larger countries. And Israel has prevailed in every one of those attacks. This prophecy is being fulfilled today.

Isaiah 41:18-20

Israel will become verdant. The lack of water is one reason why Israel had been an arid land during most of the past 2000 years. But recently, when many Jews returned to their ancient homeland, much of it once again became arable, thanks to God's blessing and human efforts.

Isaiah 43:5-6

The Jews will return to their homeland from the east, the west, the north and the south. Centuries ago, the Jews were scattered to just about every country in the world. But, during the past century, millions of Jews have once again come home to Israel.

Isaiah 44:28; 45:1; and 45:13

Isaiah said that a conqueror named Cyrus would overthrow the seemingly impregnable Babylon and suppress Egypt along with the rest of the ancient world. Cyrus would also decree that the Jewish exiles in his territory may go free without any ransom. This came true around 200 years later.

The one prophecy in all history that was made and documented before it came true was the one that saved Flavius Josephus from a life of slavery. A star or comet appeared in the skies in 66 CE. After his capture by Flavius Vespatian during the Roman-Jewish War, the Jewish priest, military leader and later historian, Josephus, told his captor that the star was a sign that Vespatian was the Messiah that the Jews had been waiting for. He prophesied that Vespatian would soon become Emperor of Rome.

That prophecy did come true and Josephus was released from slavery with great honours, later taking the emperor's family name, calling himself Flavius Josephus.

Not only was this a prophecy that really did come true, it was clearly stated at the time and does not require convoluted interpretation in hindsight of ancient texts. It also means that Josephus was lucky, not that he had supernatural powers.

Is The Bible inspired?

The dictionary definition says that a work can be considered inspired if it was prompted by or emanated from a supernatural source. An inherent assumption in this is that the supernatural source would have ensured that the work, in this case the Bible, was historically accurate, lacking in errors and inconsistencies, but containing prophecies or other material that could only have come from a supernatural source. We can most easily tell that the Bible is not inspired because of the errors and inconsistencies in the text. We can also tell that the Bible was not inspired by comparing the authorship and date when each book was really written, with the author and dates supposed by tradition. Some archaeologists now dispute much of the supposed history of the early Hebrews, evidence once again that the Bible was not inspired. The Bible contains a number of supposed prophecies, but these seem to have come true soon after they were announced. For example, Isaiah 7:14 prophesied that a young woman would have a son; this prophecy came true in verse 8:3 - unarguably before Isaiah wrote his book. The Book of Daniel contains many supposed prophecies, but it can be shown conclusively that the book was written in the second century BCE, after the 'prophecies' had come true. There is no evidence that the Bible is inspired, so the conclusion is that it is not. Christians believe that the Bible is indeed inspired by God.
