For the same reasons many other people at the time of his presidency hated Bush. Do an Internet search for Bush's presidency and you'll see many instances of how he was perceived as a horrible president.
I believe he is a better president. Since President Obama is a president during a recession many people think he is bad at his job. But in fact(in my opinion) President Bush caused that, he made many mistakes and it just happened that President Obama was to become the next president.
